medicare child dental benefit scheme

            Sharonne Zaks dental participates in the Medicare Child Dental Benefits scheme. This commenced in January 2014 for children aged 2-17 years and whose families receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or relevant Australian Government payment. The total benefit is capped at $1000 per child over a two year period. Benefits cover a range of services including examinations, x-rays,cleaning, fissure sealants, fillings, root canal treatment and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic treatment, cosmetic dental treatment or sports mouthguards.

            You can confirm your child’s eligibility by contacting Medicare, who will usually send you out a letter of offer each calender year. Please inform reception that your child is eligible before the appointment, which will allow you to start claiming the benefit from the initial appointment. The payment is made in full on the day of the appointment then the receipt is taken to medicare who give you the rebate.
